2017 Syrah

Wildwood Oak Winery 2017 Abba Vineyard Syrah, Lodi, CA – Mamma Mia

This is a full-bodied Syrah with classic dark fruit. The nose offers blackberries and boysenberry with herb like herbs of province spices and a hint of vanilla. The palate is flavor-packed ripe blackberries, boysenberries, herbs with a hint of vanilla and pepper and a long, commanding finish.

Awards: Tastings.com: 2020 Syrah of the Year; Double Gold: San Francisco International Wine Competition; Gold Medal: Beverage Tasting Institute and rated Exceptional,  Silver Medal: San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition. Sunset International Wine Competition.

What’s in a name? We source our red grapes from Abba Vineyard. The Abba family has been growing grapes for going on 4 generations. Each year, we take the 70’s musical group, ABBA, and name the wine after an ABBA song. The 2017 Mamma Mia is named for our daughter, Melissa, because 2017 is the year her son, Joshua, was born.

    From the Beverage Tasting Institute
Deep purple color. Aromas of cookie dough, baked plums, buttery cobbler topping, and mocha with a slight chewy, crisp, fruity medium-to-full body and a smooth appealing, long chocolate buttercream and sarsaparilla finish with heavy oak flavor. A rich Syrah laden with chewy notes of baking spice and fresh baked cookies; a decadent sipper and pairing.
