Wildwood Oak Winery 2018 Elk Vineyard Chardonnay – Regan’s Bend

This is a classic California Chardonnay with defined toasted layers. The bouquet shows Meyer Lemon, Asian Pear, toasted baking spice and honeysuckle. The palate is full and lush with Meyer Lemon, Lush Asian pear, Chinese 5 Spices, salted caramel with a hint of vanilla and a long creamy finish.

Awards: Silver: San Francisco International Competition, San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition.  Gold: Beverage Testing Institute.

What’s in a name? In 2014, the year that our grandson, Regan, was born, we wanted to make a wine to commemorate his birth. It was also an important year for us in that we had to decide what we going to do with our hobby of making wine. We were making a lot of wine that we could not sell so we just gave it away especially for local charities. In 2014, we made the decision to go commercial. We brought back the name for our 2018 Chardonnay. Regan’s older brother by 2 years and 1 day is Rowan. Regan’s Bend takes its name for the journey along a river. We have saved a few bottles of the 2014 Syrah to open when Regan turns 21.

    Golden yellow color. Aromas of caramel drizzled apples, salted pretzels, bananas foster, and a ripe tropical fruit with a velvety, vibrant, fruity medium body and a smooth, elegant, long hints of smoky dark roasted coffee, peach tart, and pina colada finish with heavy oak flavor. A sultry, velvety Chardonnay with copious amounts of fancy oak and decadent style; drink up.
