2018 Grenache

Wildwood Oak Winery 2018 Grenache, Lodi, CA – Rowan Down The River

This is a full-bodied Grenache with classic taste of red fruit of cherries, strawberries and raspberries with a hint of vanilla. On the nose you get dark Bing cherries and vanilla. The palate confirms the dark fruit and hint of vanilla.

Awards: Silver: San Francisco International Wine Competition. Beverage Tasting Institute and rated Highly Recommend;  Bronze: San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition.

What’s in a name? Before we went commercial, we made a 2012 Syrah/Tempranillo blend to commemorate the year grandson, Rowan, was born. We have saved a few bottles to open when Rowan turns 21. We brought back the name for the 2018 Grenache. When Rowan was little, his parents called him “Row-Boat”. Rowan Down the River seemed like a natural way to tie into the theme of our journey.

    From the Beverage Tasting Institute
Violet color. Aromas and flavors of stewed fruit, black licorice, rhubarb, toasted panettone, and mulling spices with a crisp, dryish medium-to-full body and a peppery medium-length finish that exhibits accents of milk chocolate, orange peel, cherry yogurt, and pink peppercorns with moderate oak flavor. A dense Grenache with roasted fruit notes; pair with roasts and game.
